Biography

Professor Bruno Korst completed his MEng with thesis at Carleton University, specializing in signal processing for acoustics, and is presently completing a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Waterloo. His research is motivated by his interest in laboratory teaching within engineering education, and focuses on methods to improve the acquisition of practical skills in professional training programs. His undergraduate degree is from the Faculdade de Engenharia Industrial (FEI) in Brazil, where he received the title of Electrical Engineer.

He has worked in the telephony and enterprise networks industry in Canada and started at the University of Toronto as a member of the technical staff, recently serving as the Director of Teaching Laboratories for ECE. He has received multiple awards for innovation, and he was the first staff member to receive the Gordon R. Slemon Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Design. To complement his technical training and practice, he completed additional degrees in two other areas of interests: a BA in Political Science/International Relations (University of Calgary) and an MBA in Marketing (Fundação Getulio Vargas, Brazil). He regularly consults with engineering companies pursuing project opportunities in Latin America.

Professor Korst is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a licensed Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario.
