Biography
Kevin Truong received his BASc degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and PhD degree in Medical Biophysics both at the University of Toronto (U of T) in 1999 and 2003, respectively. He is currently an associate professor at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (BME) and the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) at U of T. Dr. Truong’s research includes the engineering of protein-based biosensors for applications in spatiotemporal imaging of the apoptosis and Ca2+ signalling pathways within living cells and organisms. Furthermore, Dr. Truong’s research includes the engineering of protein-based switches modulated by light and Ca2+ for re-wiring cells and organisms with a diverse set of biological functions. He is a recipient of the Early Researcher Award from Ministry of Research and Innovation (Ontario). His research is supported by the National Sciences and Engineering Research Council and Canadian Foundation for Innovation.
