Congratulations to ECE class of 1T3!

June 19, 2013

Graduates from the Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering’s class of 2013 walked across the stage in Convocation Hall to receive their degrees on a perfect, sunny Wednesday morning.

“It feels really good to have my ring and my paper,” said ECE graduate Andrew Kmiecik.

Skule traditions were in full effect on King’s College Circle following the ceremony, including performances by the Lady Godiva Memorial Bnad and a firing of Ye Olde Skule Cannon.

Newly minted alumni from the morning’s convocation ceremony, which included ECE, UTIAS, IBBME, EngSci and MSE, gathered with their families and professors in the quad and Great Hall at Hart House for lunch, drinks and celebration.

“I feel good, alive—vivid,” said Jonathon Pipa, an EngSci graduate with an Aerospace major. “Those first two years are extremely difficult, but I think the point is to convince you of what you’re capable of doing if you push yourself.”

Siavash Fazeli Dehkordy just completed his PhD under Prof. Konstantinos Plataniotis in the Communications Group of ECE. “It was a long time, a difficult thing,” he said. “I’ve been working on final revisions of my thesis, and just completed my second defence. This is a great day.”

Many graduates already had their next steps mapped out, but all agreed they intended to enjoy the moment.

Congratulations to all members of the class of 1T3 on your momentous achievements, and welcome to the ECE alumni community!
