“My research aims to revolutionize the treatment of neurological disorders, which cause symptoms like essential tremor. Traditional treatments, such as deep-brain stimulation, rely on bulky implants with batteries that require frequent surgical replacements. But our team has developed a groundbreaking wireless power transmission method using superoscillations within a Huygens’ Box — in short, it’s an innovative approach that allows us to focus electromagnetic energy precisely, powering implants deep within the brain without impacting surrounding tissue. Our hope is that it could eliminate the need for invasive surgeries and improve patient comfort. I was excited to share this idea at the IMS2024 conference. It was a challenge. It would have been a rewarding experience even if I didn’t place third! I walked away thinking how much I’ve grown throughout my graduate studies. I’m now in the final stages of my thesis, working on demonstrating additional aspects of this wireless powering technology across various scenarios."
