“I was very excited to receive this scholarship, recognizing my research contribution to the development of efficient machine learning and systems. I look forward to building on this research direction with applications in computer vision and natural language processing, under the supervision of Professor Kostas Plataniotis. I believe efficient implementations are crucial for the scaling and enablement of many downstream tasks. Our work has introduced novel compression techniques for model and data paradigms that reduce computational costs while maintaining performance. This is particularly important given the rise of large foundation models and their respective compute costs. One of my highlights last year was publishing our research at two conferences — the International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV), and a second called the International Conference on Learning Representations (ICLR). I am excited to build on this momentum and contribute further to the field!”
