Professor Piero Triverio was named as Canada Research Chair in Modelling of Electrical Interconnects in an announcement by the Government of Canada Nov. 14. Triverio, a professor in The Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, works on designing the next generation of small- and large-scale “interconnect networks.” His research will result in faster, more powerful information and communications technology products and will improve electricity distribution to cities. He has been named as a Tier 2 chairholder.

Triverio was among 10 University of Toronto awarded new Canada Research Chairs, and five more who had their chairs renewed. In total, the government is providing $108.9 million across the country through the Canada Research Chairs  program to support 135 newly-awarded and renewed chairs.

“Congratulations to our new and renewed chairholders,” said Professor Paul Young, U of T’s vice-president (research and innovation). These researchers are conducting ground-breaking research that is solving real problems and helping us understand ourselves and our world. The CRC designation is one they can justifiably be proud of.”
